Rehabilitation Outcomes by Diagnosis

Days Waiting for Admission: The time from when a patient is ready for inpatient rehabilitation until they are admitted.

Length of stay (LOS): Indicates the patient’s total time spent in inpatient rehabilitation.

The Functional Independence Measure (FIM®): Indicates the functional level of the patient at admission and discharge. We also use FIM® to track a patient’s progress during the inpatient stay using a precision case management approach.

The FIM® instrument is a trademark of Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation, a division of UB Foundation Activities, Inc.

Length of Stay Efficiency (LOS ÷ FIM® Change): Indicates the patient’s functional change for each day of inpatient rehabilitation.
