Speech Language Pathology
Who we are
Speech language pathologists diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders.
What we do
We enhance your ability to communicate with others by assessing your speech, understanding,
reading, written language and hearing. We also review swallowing safety.
The frequency of treatment may vary depending on the need and service required. Your speech language pathologist will work with you to determine an individualized treatment plan once you are assessed.
Who we see
Outpatient speech language pathology services at the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre are available for clients aged 18 and older, if not presently enrolled in a public secondary school.
Clients may be seen for assessment and treatment of a variety of disorders including:
- dysphagia (swallowing difficulty);

- voice (nodules, vocal fold paralysis, etc.);
- speech and language difficulty due to degenerative neurological disorders (i.e. Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) etc.) and
- speech and language difficulty due to brain injury or stoke.
